  • So Long Phot205

Last night was my final class in Intermediate Photography.  While I've complained to my husband about the course for the last 6w, I'm sad that it's now over.  I have signed up for more classes but they do not start again until September.

My main 'beef' with this class was the instructor.  I can't put my finger on what it was exactly but it was something. hah.  I took the last 2 classes on Tuesday  nights due to a conflict with my husband for my regular Thursday class and enjoyed those two classes the most.  I think it was in part perhaps to the class being so much smaller then the Thursday night one?

    Anyway, the one thing I did enjoy was the weekly assignments. :0)  These are what they were;

    -Slow vs Fast Shutter Speed
    -Composition
-Before and After - you fixed it in PS - cloning, colour etc
-Extreme Before and After - you went extreme with an action or such
    - Portraiture

I can't find the slow version of this one..

    Before & After
    ssw Koala

Extreme Before & After.  I used an action called Vintage n' Crack on it. heh
    ssw extreme

    Portraiture

His critique on this one was the blow out on the shorts, the leg on the left, but I opened the RAW image up again and was able to correct it today with Recovery in PSCS3 ACR and then adjusted it some more in Curves. :)

Overall it was a fun class and I can't wait to do the ones in the fall.

Edit I just realized how crappy xanga makes my photos look. bleh  So I replaced the last one with the unedited version of the photo before I fixed the blow out.

  • Thanks!

Thanks everyone for the congratulations. :0)  I'm also pregnancy buddies with Torontogirl I have no idea how I could have forgotten to mention that!

So the deets.  Last time I don't think I went into much detail.  The long and the short of it is that I have an Incompetent Cervix, likely caused from my first pregnancy.  Not usually the typical way to cause an Incompetent Cervix, but it does happen unfortunately.  So this time around I'm classified as "high risk" and am seeing an OB/Specialist on a bi-weekly basis.

At first thought for sure (back in Dec. 08) that I'd have a cerclage put in, but after more reading/research and talking to my OBGYN, I decided not to and rather play a wait and see game.  I'm aware of what is wrong, so am being pro-active about things, unlike last time when I had no idea my cervix had weakened and was lugging, lifting, walking 7+ hrs a day etc.  The doctor also has me on progesterone.

All in all I feel good, I'm showing already, fun fun fun! And am due as I mentioned (according to the doctor's calculations, I prefer to use by Ovulation, but whatevs) on Dec. 12, my birthday.  So that would make me 13w1d

I'm not sure how much I'll post here about the pregnancy, I have a blog over on blogger I've been using, so if you'd like an invite (I made it private) send me a message or leave a comment with your email. :0)

Oh, and I did not all my info was on the u/s pic, but was on my laptop and too lazy to go down to the basement to edit it in PS, but after Forceofnature reminding me, I realized that even Paint can crop and colour. heh

  • I will readily admit I am so happy that Tash is walking! (I'm sure I'll be eating these words in a couple of weeks) I know I should not feel this way, but every baby in our play group has been walking for at least 2 months, so I was starting to feel like Tash might never walk! One other baby who was born the same day as Tash just started walking 2 weeks ago, so that stressed me even more. Amazing what stresses us out eh? I know each baby does things in their own time, but I was starting to feel like I'd be carrying her around forever. ha!

Every Tuesday our baby group has a play date. We alternate homes (in the summer we go to the park or zoo) so it's not stuck on one mom to clean up each time. As luck would have it, today was my day to host the playdate. Not only that, O was "working" from home today so when she started to walk I ran and got him, so we both got to share the moment.

At first she was just taking 3 or 4 steps between myself and L, but then she walked from me, across the play room to J. It was so exciting! I really can't express how sweet it is to see her walk. We all cheered and clapped, which she thought was hillarious and starting to giggle and laugh!  She seems so little, yet there she is putting one foot in front of the other and walking. She has far from mastered it, the walk across the room was her longest stretch, after that is was a lot of standing and a few steps, then crawling, but I'm sure in a week or two she'll have it down and I'll be chasing her all over the place.

She's down for a nap (a late one!) but I'm going to try and video her walking. :0)  Is it bad that I want to go wake her up to see her walk again?  It's just so sweet!  Gives me warm fuzzies!

ETA: She's 2 days short of being 14 months old.  She's not walked again since she woke up from her nap.  She's going to tease me and not do it again for days I bet!

  • She's standing!  Actually she's been standing and letting go of stuff for a few weeks now, but I've noticed in the last few days that she's doing it more frequently and standing unassisted for longer periods.  She just might start walking before her first birthday!  I'm not sure how excited I should be about the increased mobility, but if she starts before or on her birthday I think that would be awesome!
